Kandy – Sri Lanka
Do you love folklore? Then you can’t miss the Esala Perahera in August, the amazing traditional elephant festival. The sparkling procession twists and turns along the city roads, with 5 parades from the four temples dedicated to Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama, Pattini and the biggest one from Dalaga Maligawa, the temple of the sacred tooth of the Buddha relic of Kandy. Dancers, drummers, musicians, acrobats, flag and torch holders: all dressed in traditional costumes. A magnificent and genuinely folk show.
